I am so thrilled to share Brianna + Jordan's gorgeous Montecito engagement session which we shot at San Ysidro Ranch (which is actually where they got engaged) and Butterfly Beach! Only the best for these two! ;)Brianna + Jordan were referred to me by my beloved 2012 bride, Renita... so OF COURSE these two are awesome! We had so much fun just playing around and having fun at their engagement, and I  think these pictures show that! Their love and infectious personalities jump out of the photos so much, you almost don't even notice the gorgeous Santa Barbara backdrops! I am so excited to finally share this SUPER FUN engagement session with y'all! Miss Ashley came to me from my lovely bride Alicyn, so I knew right away she would be fun and creative! Boy was I right! Ashley wanted to do a styled engagement session and she wanted it to be a nod to all things British. Her fiance Jim and her have an obsession with Sherlock Holmes, and The Avengers particularly. So we crafted this shoot around that! It was fun using some of my favorite Santa Barbara backdrops in creative ways so they would fit the 1960s British Invasion theme! As some of you know I had the fantastic opportunity to go to Maui, Hawaii last month and stay with my good friend and fellow photographer, Anna Kim. Anna had me shoot a wedding for her while I was there and I cannot wait to share those gorgeous images soon! I was so happy to be able to make a trip out of the job and spend a relaxing week on Maui-- taking in the breathtaking views, lounging at the beach, eating tasty meals and having lots of laughs with Anna!I also got to meet her charming husband Elan and adorable pup Barkley Bonestein! What is not to love about this gorgeous Santa Barbara engagement? Katie + Scott have so much style-- and it's probably my favorite style out there-- carefree, spirited, in LOVE. These two always look effortless and lovely, like they stepped out of a Free People or Anthropologie catalogue! It is definitely in their spirit-- these two love nature, cowboy boots, rustic charm and living in the moment. And their love is definitely as effortless as their style! The Stow House is a historic property with both Victorian and rustic charm! It also happens to be right next to the train museum and orange orchards which makes for even more pretty scenery to photograph! It's actually a wedding venue, but we had a ton of fun using it for the back drop of this engagement session!Vanessa + Brett are so very sweet together in every way. And Vanessa was all smiles during the shoot! You could just how excited she was to take some lovey dovey photos with her man! And Brett was so excited to see Vanessa happy! 2012 was such a great year that was jam packed with drop dead GORGEOUS engagement shoots! Most of my shoots took place in beautiful Santa Barbara County, since my business moved there at the beginning of the year! It was great shooting in my new hometown--- so many fabulous locations! I also think my clients really enjoyed the scenery Santa Barbara had to offer!I also loved these shoots because on each one I had so much fun getting to know my clients better! Some of my couples got married later in the year, and some of these sessions were for my 2013 brides! But either way, the engagement sessions created such a bond between me + each client, and that is a great thing! I am so thrilled with how each session turned out! Ashley + Lance are an adorable couple getting married at the stunning Sunstone Villa in July! They found me on their short wedding planning to trip to Santa Barbara and booked me on the spot! And the only time we had left to shoot their engagement session before their flight back home to Dallas was at sunrise less than 48 hours later! Crazy! But oh so fun! Ashley and Lance were great sports about getting up before daylight and also taking pics in weather that was LESS THAN THIRTY-TWO DEGREES! Seriously! It was actually freezing out! And yet despite all the obstacles, Ashley and Lance just radiated love. We had fun walking the streets of Solvang and then driving through the rolling hills of Santa Ynez, and I think we created some gorgeous imagery!Special thanks to Page of About Face Make-Up Artistry for making Ashley look extra fabulous! I am so excited to share my last engagement session of 2012 which was with the beautiful Rachael and Sadie! Rachael and I go wayyyyyy back. Like back to the days of being in musical theater camp in elementary school. So when Rachael told me via facebook she was engaged and wanted me to photograph her big day I was thrilled! How fun for life to come full circle like that... to know some one as a little kid, and then get to tell their love story as an adult! I love that! And of course, I couldn't wait to meet Sadie!Rachael + Sadie came up to Santa Barbara for the day to have a fun little getaway from all their whirlwind wedding planning and let me document their love! I adored spending time getting to know them both better! These two are so perfect for each other-- they make each other laugh, they randomly break out into song and dance, they smile radiantly! I had so much fun exploring Santa Barbara with them, and I think they had a ton of fun being photographed, even though prior to the shoot they had told me they were a tad nervous! But seriously, they fooled me because they were all smiles and laughs throughout the shoot! The session was such a blast and I can't wait for their wedding this Fall! YAY!Check out the images below:

Anna + Jimmy are another one of my super adorable 2013 couples and I could not love them more! These two adore the Central Coast and are getting married in Big Sur next May! Squee! I could not be more excited for it! We finally got a chance to meet in person last Saturday and shoot their engagement session in Santa Barbara, and I had so much fun! Yes, it was cold and windy, and their sweet baby girl Olive was feeling sick, but all that could not stop us from having fun and taking some amazing, glamorous, gorgeous pictures!We started the session at the Santa Barbara Courthouse! The oh-so stylish Anna rocked a sexy Tadashi gown and Jimmy looked quite dapper in a suit! I always love shooting at the Courthouse-- it is such a gorgeous back drop-- but when you have a couple this stunning+ stylin', it's even more fun to do my job! We later went to the Douglas Family Preserve for some casual sunset shots, which turned out great too! It was really a fun session! The best part though was seeing what an awesome pair Anna + Jimmy make-- not only are they crazy in love, funny,  genuine and caring, but they also are amazing parents! These two are already such a connected couple, I just know their love will last forever! Warms my heart to see love like this!And now on to the photos!

I am so excited to share a brand new, adorable, Santa Barbara engagement session with y'all on this rainy Thursday! Lauren and Igor are one of my super fabulous 2013 couples! I have loved them since their initial email inquiry which was so sweet, sincere and enthusiastic! But the engagement session was actually the first time we had met in person! This is why I LOVE engagement sessions... because it allows me to really get to know my couples and actually work with them before the big day!Lauren + Igor are just two of the loveliest people you could ever hope to meet! Smart, funny, gorgeous, and incredibly kind! I had a blast wandering the Douglas Family Nature Preserve with them and Hendry's Beach. During the session I got a sense of just how perfect these two are for each other, and it made me even more excited for their Santa Barbara/Hope Ranch wedding next summer! Woohoo! I am super excited to share the adorable Andrea + Andy's engagement session which took place at the Mission in Santa Barbara and at the Santa Barbara Natural History Museum! Andrea and Andy are the raddest couple ever! Besides the fact that their names match, they are super stylish, musicians (Andy rocks the bass and Andrea strums the ukelele), lovers of all things paleontology, oh and they have a kitty too! So you know I must LOVE them! ;) I am so excited that they are on the roster for 2013, and judging by how awesome the engagement turned out, I know that the wedding will be AMAZING!My favorite thing about this shoot was how we were able to make everything so personal, even though Andy had never even been to Santa Barbara before! But through a few key props-- like their instruments and favorite vinyls-- and a funky location (The Natural History Museum) we were able to infuse the shoot with Andrea + Andy's fun personalities! And of course, I kept the session extra fun and active to capture the genuine, giddy love they share! I could not be more pleased with how it all turned out... so without further ado... the pics!!!:

Where do I even begin when it comes to writing a blog for my BFF's engagement photos?? In some ways it seems like I just met Mandi, but the truth is we met 5 years ago in an acting class. Yep, this was before I even considered being a professional photographer and was still trying to make it big in Hollywood. I think I was in class a few months before Mandi and I really spoke to each other. But one day it all clicked and I realized we had tons in common, like she's from Boston and I lived in Boston, we both love cooking, fashion, obviously we both loved acting and theater, we both were living with our boyfriends, we both had day jobs that were kinda cool and kinda lame all at once... the list went on and on. From that point forward we were fast friends and during our friendship I think we've watched each other go through a lot, grow up, and work toward reaching our goals! In the course of our friendship, I have gotten to know Mandi's love Dan quite well too! He is an all around awesome guy-- smart, funny, handsome, super caring. Basically he's perfect, except when you are having game night and he starts whooping your ass in Scattergories. Really, Dan, you gotta stop that! ;)I am reallllllllly lucky to have friends like Mandi + Dan! And I am incredibly excited to be here to support them during their engagement and their marriage! I am just giddy over all the wedding plans, and the fact that I get to be a bridesmaid AND their photographer, and I just can't wait to see what the future holds for them! Because I know it will be fabulous! It's truly been an honor having them as friends, and even more of an honor getting to document their love in photos!Mandi + Dan are both actors and both have a funky-fabulous sense of style! We felt that Downtown LA was the perfect backdrop for their shoot as it really represents them, and how they have embraced LA as their home together! I am totally in love with the photos... hope you will love them too!!! Oh and special thanks to Juli of Susie Chhuor Hair + Make Up Team for Mandi's incredible look!

Sometimes fate has a way of working out in magical and unexpected ways. I'd say that is how Kendra came into my life! I can't tell you how many inquiries I had for her wedding date this year. Probably 3 or 4 and two I actually met with. I didn't book that date, and each time I was so disappointed. But the business goes on and of course other weddings and shoots continue. So, I shot a fabulous editorial shoot at Sunstone Winery. I fell hard in love with the venue and figured any bride who would get married there would be my kind of girl. Little did I know, weeks after completing the shoot I would get a fabulous email from talented planner Natalie asking if I was free on Sept 15th of a wedding at Sunstone! WHAT? Why yes, I am! And why, yes,  I have shot there and can even show you just how extra awesome my pics would be at the venue! Seriously, stars aligned.But really the good fortune in all this was meeting Kendra. Because in addition to getting married at an amazing place, she is a truly lovely person. In the few weeks I have known her, she has been positively  sweet, upbeat, generous, funny and just an all around awesome person to get to know! Oh and she has the best fashion sense ever. At our engagement session in Malibu, I got to finally meet her man, Kevin! He is also super funny, sweet and you can tell more than anything that he really loves Kendra. These two had a blast both at The Lumberyard playing dress up and looking utterly fierce, and then running on the shores of El Matador beach! I love a couple who knows how to dress it up, but is still so down to earth they'll splash water at each other at the beach! Awesome! I am so excited for their wedding in just a few short weeks! I know it will be amazing!!! But for now here are their engagement pics!!Kevin is handsome, eh? He kinda reminds of Clark Gable, something about his classic style... ;)

This week I had SO much fun shooting G + J at their alma mater, UCLA! G+J met and fell in love at UCLA during their undergraduate years. And now these two lovebirds live on the East Coast! We had a blast roaming the campus and getting to know each other! Fun fact: this was actually the first time I met G + J in person since they booked me via a skype meeting! I loved seeing these two interact with each other! They give one another the biggest hugs, and the sweetest kisses! And they just couldn't help but smile from ear to ear every time I asked them to look at each other! This session was just so cute and sweet, I know the wedding this November will be even more amazing!!!

Renita and Alex are such a fun couple! Sexy. Spontaneous. Funny. Giddy. Madly in love! They have such a joy for life and for living it with each other, it's easy to be completely smitten with these two! I am so stoked to be shooting their wedding... in just one month!!! And I am so excited to share the photos from their RAD Santa Barbara engagement session! Renita and Alex drove up to Santa Barbara in Alex's '66 Dart, which made the perfect set for part of our shoot. We found a secret little turn-off in Goleta, and I had a blast shooting this smokin' couple with their hot car! And as the shoot progressed we made our way to the Coronado Butterfly Preserve for some more stunning shots. We also all got to witness the most incredible sunset of all time, and I was sure to incorporate all the magic mother nature gave us in the shoot!I have so much more I want to share about this incredible shoot! And there's a great story to tell about it! But for now it's hush-hush... you'll have to stay tuned for another blog post about it!

It was extra special because we had the MOST SPECTACULAR SUNSET EVER during the shoot. We were on the Ellwood Bluffs... the sky above the distant Channel Islands was pink, the mountains were purple and the ocean turned turquoise. It was unreal. I tried my best to capture it. And, you know, my really hot and stylish couple only jazzed up my sunset shot even more! I am so excited to share these photos from Rita + Ryan's engagement session which we shot in Santa Barbara! Rita and I go way back! We went to high school together. And we kept in touch through...FACEBOOK! Duh! So Rita would follow my career and photos, like a true fan! When she got engaged to the wonderful Ryan, she contacted me immediately to see if I could photograph their 2013 wedding! Of course, I was excited and delighted! :)Rita and Ryan are so adorable together! They make each other laugh and smile so bright! And when Ryan holds Rita in his arms, she just melts. Which you will see in the photos below! These two are definitely a perfect pair, and I'm so stoked for what's to come for them! One thing that made this shoot extra fun, was that we went all around Downtown Santa Barbara-- from the Courthouse to Alice Keck Park, to Leadbetter Beach! We got to explore the beautiful town together, and Rita had just the perfect outfit and props to match each setting! Rita also wore some dazzling accessories, like a Tiffany's necklace and some hot Louboutin pumps-- both of which I learned were gifts from Ryan! SWOON! I love that Ryan adores pampering Rita! So sweet! :)

I really am SOOO lucky to have such stylish, unique and creative clients! And Alicyn + Jason are no different. It's super fun, because Alicyn and I are both Emerson grads, and she was actually the RA for our college's Los Angeles Program, which is how we met! It has been 5 years since I graduated, but thanks to the magic of facebook, Ali and I reconnected and she told me of her engagement to the lovely Jason!In Ali's first email to me, she happily told me how she met the love her life! And as soon as I talked to Jason, I could tell he felt the exact same way about Ali! These two radiate love and happiness when they are together! They lose themselves in each other's eyes, they light up when they hold hands, and they know exactly how to make each other laugh. Shooting our engagement was so wonderful, because I could just feel how in sync these two are. It's not an easy  feat to find your perfect match, but I am sure Ali and Jason are it for each other!That right there is enough to make me giddy over a shoot! Seeing people so in love and so happy... it's what fuels me and why I do what I do. But when a couple wants to go out of the box and make their session super unique and stylized? Well for me that's like icing on the cake, plus ten cherries and sprinkles too. So I pretty much died of a sugar coma when Ali told me they wanted to do a hippie-Beatles-inspired shoot in Topanga! Heck yea girl! I LOVE Hippie style!! So we put our heads together, found some fantastic inspiration on pinterest... Ali borrowed vintage clothes from her soon-to-be-mother-in-law and I brought some props too! And voila! A hippie, Beatles heaven shoot was born! I just love how the photos turned out and am so excited to share!!!I mean seriously, could these two be ANY cuter??Love the light here! Everything is so gorgeous!!Ali is a very talented musician, and she played Jason some love songs while they sat on the hammock together! SO sweet!I LOVE everything about this next set up! Ali's dress and scarf were from Jason's mom, and Ali's leather cuff on her wrist was from her mom! Valerie + Paul are one of my 2012 couples that I am working with as a Callaway Gable associate photographer, and I could not love them more! Not only are they insanely stylish, and ridiculously good looking, these two are also so sweet and caring! And so in love! I have delighted in every minute of working with them, and can't wait for their wedding in less than 2 weeks!When discussing what we should do for the engagement session, Valerie expressed she wanted something modern, funky, high end and glamorous. So OF COURSE the Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica came to mind! I looooove shooting at the Viceroy. I seriously could shoot every session and wedding here for the rest of my life. It is that amazing. Unfortunately, many of my clients don't want to pay the (nominal) photo permit fee required to shoot here. But I really wish more people would consider it! It's such a stylish location to shoot and makes a jaw-dropping back drop in photos! Definitely worth the small fee! Luckily, Valerie agreed that the fee was totally worth it! And so our shoot was planned!We also decided to spend some of our shoot at the nearby Santa Monica Beach. Valerie + Paul have some great memories there... and also it added a little diversity to the shoot! I brought some props and Valerie + Paul brought their tremendous fashion sense, fun personalities and love ...and voila! One of my most epic and favorite engagement shoots ever was born! I am so excited to share it with you below:
