As some of you know, in 2013 I had the amazing opportunity to travel to Maui multiple times and work for my good friend Anna Kim. Anna is like a soul-sister to me! We have so much in common-- from photography style to tv shows to foodie tastes to even the same bathing suits! I just adore any time I get to spend with her and hang out... of course it doesn't hurt she happens to live in one of my favorite places ever, Hawaii! ;)While I was working/playing with her this summer, it coincided with her birthday. Anna is not only much loved by me but everyone who meets her. I mean it's kinda impossible not to love her! So she had a beautiful birthday party at one of the most gorgeous wedding venues on Earth... the Haiku Mill in Maui. All her friends & family who adore her surrounded her with love that day. And a very fancy birthday fete-- complete with gorgeous florals by Dellables-- was held in her honor. It was an amazing day, and I was flattered to not only attend as a guest but to also photograph parts of it for Anna. The party was even featured on Pacific Wedding's Blog.It was actually a rainy day, though it is hard to tell in pictures. My favorite memory ever of that night was dancing and singing with Anna in the rain to the tune of Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines." So fun!Thank you Anna for being a wonderful friend to me! I hope you will always cherish these photos :)

At the end of last year my 2013 horoscope read that this year would be full of chaos and happiness but if I could balance it all, it would be MAGIC! That actually could not have been more accurate. This year I went on more plane rides than I probably have in total over the last 5 years. I shot weddings in Napa, Maui (on 3 separate occasions), Boston, San Diego, LA and of course here at home in Santa Barbara. I took an amazing workshop in NYC with none other than Sue Bryce. I even attended a wedding as a **guest** in Dallas. I shot more weddings than ever before. I shot more boudoir than ever before and began shooting glamour as well. I opened a new studio space. I launched a new logo/brand and a new website. I nearly booked out my year for 2014 (only 5 wedding slots left)!!!!!Seriously. It has been crazy. In a good way. And I am so grateful. Because even though there were days I cried from exhaustion, cursed the next trip flight I had to take, or got behind on a task and felt really horrible about it, the truth is everything was worth it. And everything was MAGIC.Every year I try to recap the work I did in a series of Year In Review blog posts. A lot of my boudoir shoots this year were super private so I am not sure I really can ever accurately  show you guys ALL the amazing work I did this year. BUT I can show you the weddings. Which were plentiful and awesome! Kelly is such a beautiful woman inside & out. She is a mom, a business owner, and just a super sweet, caring individual. It was my pleasure to capture these gorgeous glam photos for her! We did everything from a professional look (which she could use for business purposes) to more fun casual/every day glam to a fancy gown! It was so fun to photograph the many sides of her personality! I just adore these images and think they showcase just how versatile a glam sesh can be! It doesn't have to be all fancy looks, but it doesn't have to be all business or casual either. We can get a ton of variety so you have a folio that is a true reflection of you! Fun! Jasmine & Micah had a lovely wedding at the Makena Beach and Golf Resort on Maui, Hawaii! First of all, what an amazing place to get married! The beach in front of this resort is so beautiful and looks like a postcard in photos! Unreal! Jasmine & Micah were super fun to photograph because they are just funny, outgoing, sweet people. Micah and his groomsman were hilarious and total hams for my camera. Jasmine and her girls were as cute and sweet as can be! They had a beautiful and emotional beachside ceremony, and then we had a chance for some fun portraits on the sand! It was awesome. I loved every second of their Hawaii paradise wedding. :)I shot this wedding as an associate for Anna Kim Photography. Thanks Anna!

Paulina & Bryan had a beautiful wedding on the lovely island of Maui, Hawaii. It was simple, full of love, and every detail was beautiful. Paulina dazzled in her Jimmy Choo's and beaded gown. Her bouquet by Dellables was as romantic as ever. Bryan looked dapper in his suit. The two married in an outdoor church ceremony (the fact that they have outdoor churches in Hawaii is AMAZING to me), and then had a lovely reception at Merriman's. Merriman's is such a beautiful spot for Maui weddings, I could just shoot there again and again! My favorite part of the day was getting to photograph these two on my favorite beach-- Kapalua Bay-- and photographing them on the lava rocks! This year was SO exciting for me in many ways. Not only did I get to shoot my own weddings in Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, San Diego, Napa, and Boston...BUT... I also got to do some work for my dear friend and extremely talented friend Anna Kim in Maui, Hawaii. It was a gorgeous, intimate, beachside wedding in Kihei. We had so much time for portraits which was so fun to shoot! I am SO excited to share Rachael + Sadie's beyond gorgeous & glam Vibiana wedding with you! This wedding was also the last major wedding for my 2013 season, so of course that makes it even more bittersweet! But oh, how we ended on such a lovely note!Vibiana has always been one of my favorite wedding venues-- it screams luxury, elegance, glamour and history. It's so old Los Angeles, and it's just full of rich details & beauty. Add to this, Rachael + Sadie-- two women who are so beautiful inside & out! They both had a vision for an elegant & old Hollywood glamour wedding and they definitely executed it beautifully! The other thing I loved was how both Rachael & Sadie managed to stray true themselves, their individual personalities and unique styles through out the day... Sadie's bouquet was colorful and textural, while Rachael's was ivory and structured, Rachael's hair was in an elegant up-do, but Sadie showed off the gorgeous curls nature blessed her with in a mostly down 'do... small little elements like this went a long way to show off each Bride's style while still keeping with the overall elegant old LA glamour feel of the wedding!The day was rich in cultural traditions including a beautiful Jewish ceremony, and Sadie & Rachael were surrounded by so many close family and friends. You could feel the love from everyone throughout the evening. It was such a celebratory night, and Rachael & Sadie beamed with joy! Witnessing & documenting love like this so special and makes me so happy I get to do what I do!Many thanks to Angel for assisting-- she was definitely a HUGE help as we had twice the details & moments to capture! Lauren & Gian are one of my absolutely fabulous 2014 couples! I am so excited for their destination Palm Springs wedding next year-- I know it will be a blast! These two are the cutest pair. She's a California girl. He's a Brazilian guy. Oh and he's a racecar driver too. They are in madly in love. And they even have a little kitty-child so of course I give them bonus points for that, being the cat lady that I am! hehe But seriously, together they radiate love and affection. They can't help but smile when they look at each other. They are seriously so adorable it almost hurts!!I am so glad they were able to come to Santa Barbara for their engagement session! I had so much fun photographing them around the Ellwood Bluffs! And I have even more fun looking back at these images... there is just a special magic to them! Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of shooting Aileen & Matt's gorgeous wedding at the Montecito Country Club! The day was so fun & joyful. Aileen & Matt had an awesome bridal party and we got so many fun pictures with the whole group and while riding their trolley to the reception, after their gorgeous ceremony at the Santa Barbara Mission. We also got some amazing portraits of just Aileen & Matt of course! Things only got more fun when the reception began-- Aileen, Matt & their friends sure know how to party! The toasts were hilarious and the dance floor was really jumping! It was such an all around fun day and I could not have been more thrilled & honored to document it all!The whole day was planned brilliantly by Donna Romani, who I just adored working with! My partner in glam, Page, was on hair & make up duty and made all the gals look gorgeous! Whoa guys! Whoa! It's been a whirlwind of a week on a personal & professional note! The personal note is not as good as my hubby is really sick with the chicken pox (no, he never got them as a kid or got the vaccine). But the professional note is really exciting stuff & I am excited to take a break and  share it  with y'all, in between playing nurse to my sick hubby!

For a long time now I've wanted a new look. The direction of my brand, images, style and vision for Ashleigh Taylor Photography has changed so much since in the last 4 years, and I really felt I needed a new logo & web design to support it!Upon recommendation of peers, I decided to sign up for a workshop called GoLive where web-designer extraordinaire Promise Tangeman and her amazing crew of co-designers teach & help you create a new website & launch in 2 days flat! It was a stressful & whirlwind experience which at moments left me feeling like I wish I had just straight up hired a designer to do 100% of the work, but at the end of the day I did learn quite a bit AND I walked away with the shiny, new, gorgeous website I was envisioning in just two days!Meg Long who was one of the designers I worked very closely with at the workshop also designed my brand new logo which I am super stoked about!!!All in all, it  was a very collaborative process and I am so excited to share the new results with you!!!  Both the boudoir/glamour AND the wedding website got a shiny new make over. I am so beyond excited to share these images from Kaitlin + Andrew's wedding which took place on Saturday at Villa Sevillano in Carpinteria, CA.Kaitlin and her mother Colette are the planners and owners of La Fete Weddings-- one of the top luxury wedding planning firms in Santa Barbara. They were one of the first people in the local Santa Barbara events industry to welcome and include me when I first moved to town. They were so nice to have lunch with me, invite me to networking events and just be helpful. I also worked on Brooks + Samantha's wedding with them last year! Not only are Colette and Kaitlin super creative and amazing at what they do, they also are just really sweet, kind, generous, and loving  people. So of course, I was beyond floored  and honored when they asked me to photograph Kaitlin's own wedding! I knew it would be AMAZING!And it was! But to be honest, even though the day had the most beautiful setting + details ever, and even though Kaitlin + Andrew look straight up like super models out of a magazine, what made the day SO fun to photograph was all the joy and love that filled the air. Colette and her husband John beamed with pride through out the day. Kaitlin was so giddy, Andrew was so excited. Everyone was just having a good time. There was no stress, no anxiety, no attitude of "this better be all I was imagining." This was just a bride, a  groom, their family and best friends all enjoying the present moment and being thankful for it. And when weddings have that much heart and that much love of the present moment, it is so easy for me to do my job and take amazing photos!So sit back and enjoy the eye candy... there sure is lots of it! Vanessa + Brett are just a lovely. sweet, adorable couple! And I was so thrilled to photograph their intimate wedding this past weekend at the beautiful Spanish Hills Country Club in Camarillo! I adore intimate weddings-- where the couple has time to just be together and enjoy their friends and family without it feeling like a circus. You can truly feel the joy and one-on-one connection in these types of events and it's so fun to photograph that kind of connection. I was blown away by how glamorous and gorgeous Vanessa looked in her gown-- it was total old Hollywood! And Vanessa's big bright smile warmed up the crisp October air all day long! It was so lovely to watch Brett share tender moments and stolen glances with Vanessa. They clearly have a beautiful romance!Thanks to Sarina for 2nd shooting! I am so excited to share CC + Davey's wedding which took place last Saturday at Calamigos Equestrian Center! CC is one very special bride to me because, as I may have previously mentioned, we went to elementary school together and were in the same Girl Scout troop. We reconnected a few years ago via my blog and she has been such a big supporter of my work! For awhile now, she kept saying I would photograph her wedding one day! And well... it finally happened! I did photograph her wedding and now it is her turn to shine on the blog! Hooray! :)There were a lot of very special and sweet moments in CC's wedding. First it was fun to see friends and parents of friends from my childhood again! Then of course there were all CC's amazing friends from all different eras of her life who worked so diligently to make sure she had the perfect day-- from wrapping bouquets with ribbons to coordinating her day to doing her make up-- it was so neat seeing all the out pouring of love by friends who just wanted to let CC, who does so much for others, have a relaxing and extra special day! The ceremony was completely touching. The lawn games were super cute and fun! The grand entrance bursting through a banner was epic. The toasts were hilarious and super duper sweet. The cake was AMAZING because it was actually a plain white cake with icing bags and CC + Davey asked guests to please decorate it for them. The result was hilarious and adorable-- everything from a cat, to their wedding date to hearts and flowers and squiggly lines were drawn on it by the end. But probably the best moment was when Davey surprised CC by serenading her Jason Mraz's "I Won't Give Up" and then.... having a bunch of friends chime in with an a cappella chorus as a beautiful and completely awesomely unexpected surprise. A wedding full of this much love is the best kind of wedding. And working with people this sweet, this happy and this in the moment is the most rewarding! I loved every moment! We all remember that classic scene from Pretty Woman, right? Where Julia Roberts gets denied and shamed out of a posh Beverly Hills store because they don't think she is the type of woman who can and should be in their store? If you don't remember here is the clip:  Well today I kinda had my own "Pretty Woman" experience... Or shall we say NOT-so-pretty-woman experience.I had heard of a lingerie store in town that I did not knew existed. I am always looking for the BEST lingerie stores to refer my boudoir clients to. In a dream world, there would be a store here in town with great selection and helpful sales people who I could collaborate with, so I know if I refer my clients to them, my clients will have a great shopping experience and leave with just the right items for a shoot. I just wanted to check the store out and see what they had, maybe introduce myself but it was mostly a stop-in-see-what-you-got outing. Was I dressed up? No. I was in the middle of a busy day. This morning I threw on a (what I think is) cute romper from Forever21 and I haven't changed since. Was I in make up? No. The fact is despite having a love of glamour, I am also a no-muss-no-fuss kind of gal, and most days I don't bother with make up. The clerk asked why I was there and looking for and I explained what I do, showed her one of my cards with photos on it, and explained I was just checking out the store's selection. That's when it happened.She told me **I** was actually the  one in need of make over and I should be practicing what I preach. According to her, I was not made up nice enough to be introducing myself to another business  and looked like I was 8 year old the way I was dressed. According to her, I should also have taken the time to wear make up, because it's not polished to introduce yourself to a business without wearing make up. She said I should know better. And maybe I should have.BUT WHEN IS IT OKAY TO TELL A WOMAN SHE IS NOT GLAMOROUS ENOUGH?The whole experience got me thinking about my shoots and why I do what I do. To be clear, I do not shoot glamour and boudoir because I think every woman needs to dress and look her best on a daily basis. No, quite the opposite. I understand that women have a lot on their plate. We are employees, business owners, volunteers, mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, wives, girlfriends, lovers, caretakers and more. There are days we don't put make up  on, eat lunch till three, or ever get  out of the yoga clothes (yoga clothes I should add that we never actually got around to doing yoga in that day). I understand that. For most modern women, every day is not a red carpet experience.And yet, I believe that is what most of us our longing for. For one special day to be made to feel beautiful. To be celebrated. To be dressed up as close to a Hollywood starlet as possible. And to have a magazine worthy photograph taken of us to remember the whole experience by. So when we have that day where we aren't feeling enough, or someone has cut us down, we can look back at that picture and remember that fabulous woman is in there all the time. And that you are beautiful and should never forget that.So that's why I do what I do. Maybe a glamour/boudoir shoot seems superficial on the surface. But it is truly about empowering the inner beauty. It is truly about celebrating who you are. And it is truly about loving yourself-- loving yourself dressed up and loving yourself dressed down.I want to give every woman this experience. I want to give every woman this powerful message. And I never ever ever want to make another woman feel the way the employee at the lingerie store made feel today.Here is a picture of me today after the whole experience. Yup, it's a selfie. Trying to smile through the salty tears I had just shed. Trying to remember that I am beautiful and stylish and sophisticated and mature no matter what anyone else thinks or says. I am showing it to you to keep it real. This is who I am. I am not a glamour girl 24/7 and I am definitely not perfect. Most days I am just Ashleigh, trying to conquer the day, and trying to take the best  care of my clients, friends, family and cats the best I can. That's who I am. And that is beautiful.PS- after this whole thing happened, the friend I was with contacted the actual store owner and told her what went down. The owner was EXTREMELY nice and personally called me to apologize for her employee and affirmed that she owns a lingerie store to also help women feel beautiful and was really upset that this happened in her store. I truly appreciate that kind of customer service and try my very best to give that same care and service to my clients as well.

What can I say about Cassie + Ron?! I just ADORE them! They are so super sweet, and all around AWESOME! I actually met Cassie exactly two years ago, as she was working on helping us get approved for our home loan when we were moving to Santa Barbara. Part of her job was to vet my business and make sure it was legit, and in that process she of course looked at my website! She emailed me right then that she loved my work and when she finally got engaged she would hire me to shoot her wedding! Well, as the story goes, Ron finally proposed to Cassie! These two had been together FOREVER,  so really is was about time Ron lock things down and make them official! Once the question had been popped, Cassie delightedly said yes and the wedding planning began! And Cassie did indeed choose me to photograph everything! Hooray!Cassie + Ron married at one of my favorite venues, Santa Barbara Historical Museum. Their wedding had a Spanish-inspired theme which so beautifully complimented the venue's architecture and rich history. Cassie + Ron were surrounded by their friends and family and their was so much love in the air. Everyone was just so excited the day was finally here. From funny toasts, to beautiful vows, to handmade details, to stolen kisses... the day was what every wedding should be! Sunday was our official Grand Opening party for our new studio space in Downtown Santa Barbara! Even though I have been doing boudoir and glamour shoots in the space since mid-July, it was so nice to finally be able to open it up and invite our friends, family, clients and colleagues to see and experience it! The reaction was overwhelming and I am so thankful for everyone's support and love! I truly never thought I'd have a space, and it is a huge accomplishment... and also-- not gonna lie-- a little bit daring of an adventure! But I truly believe it's only UP from here! Because I know that this space allows me to serve women better... to help empower them to see themselves as beautiful... and to do that by taking gorgeous, sexy, glamorous photos! Anne + Eric are my first couple who will be married in 2014-- in January to be exact! They booked me online, so it was so very nice to do this engagement session with them! I just adored photographing them-- they are one of the most elegant, stylish and attractive couples ever! But more importantly they are very sweet people! They wanted to do their session at The Bacara Resort which is also where they will be getting married. We had a ton of fun going all over the property to get some gorgeous shots! And let's face it, Anne's two gowns made everything just that much more fun to photograph! hehe! I just LOVE the images and am so excited for their big day in January! Wooho!!

Last Saturday, I photographed an absolutely beautiful wedding at one of my favorite wedding venues here in Santa Barbara-- The Sunstone Villa. I shoot here a lot, and it never gets old because it is such a STUNNING location! But the truth is while Saturday's wedding was at a beautiful venue with beautiful details, what truly made the day gorgeous was the newlyweds-- Katie + Scott! I've adored Katie + Scott since I met them early this year. They are such kind, genuine, generous, and all wonderful people. Their love is tender and sweet and it is just a joy to document the bond they share. They are also just super cool and fun to hang out with, so of course shooting their day was a blast!  My favorite parts of the day were the sweet First Look, the words of love and wisdom their mothers shared during their ceremony, and the tears of joy that flowed during the toasts! Oh wait, no, I lied... actually  my most favorite part of the day was when the little ringbearers and nephews of Scott very enthusiastically danced Gangnam Style! It was so cute I almost melted! heheheAnyways, this day was too beautiful for words and I should just stop talking about it and show you the pictures! Because, not to toot my own horn or anything, but they are awful purdy!!! So much BIG STUFF has happened since I moved to Santa Barbara in December 2011. But this year has been bigger than my wildest dreams! Amongst a crazy busy/good wedding season, I watched my boudoir and glamour photography just blossom. Truth be told there is no one doing boudoir and glam the way I do boudoir/glam here in Santa Barbara... or Ventura or SLO as a matter of fact! The feedback from clients and the community has been incredible. Pretty much every inquiry I received starts with "I want to do a shoot with you because your work is amazing and the best I've seen"... It's humbling beyond words. And is also a dream come true. Because while I love shooting weddings, I equally love to photograph women. To help them to feel beautiful. confident and amazing in their own skin. To show women just how beautiful they can be.So my make up artist friend Page of Absolutely Fabulous and I secured a fabulous studio space in downtown Santa Barbara. It is a space dedicated to all things feminine-- hair, make up , beauty, boudoir, glam, photography, girl power. We are super excited to be opening this space to better serve the women of Santa Barbara, Ventura and beyond!And THIS SUNDAY. We are having a Grand Opening Party!
