Whoa guys! Whoa! It's been a whirlwind of a week on a personal & professional note! The personal note is not as good as my hubby is really sick with the chicken pox (no, he never got them as a kid or got the vaccine). But the professional note is really exciting stuff & I am excited to take a break and share it with y'all, in between playing nurse to my sick hubby!
Our NEW Look!
For a long time now I've wanted a new look. The direction of my brand, images, style and vision for Ashleigh Taylor Photography has changed so much since in the last 4 years, and I really felt I needed a new logo & web design to support it!Upon recommendation of peers, I decided to sign up for a workshop called GoLive where web-designer extraordinaire Promise Tangeman and her amazing crew of co-designers teach & help you create a new website & launch in 2 days flat! It was a stressful & whirlwind experience which at moments left me feeling like I wish I had just straight up hired a designer to do 100% of the work, but at the end of the day I did learn quite a bit AND I walked away with the shiny, new, gorgeous website I was envisioning in just two days!Meg Long who was one of the designers I worked very closely with at the workshop also designed my brand new logo which I am super stoked about!!!All in all, it was a very collaborative process and I am so excited to share the new results with you!!! Earlier this year a very very very cool thing happened! My boudoir photography was featured on Cosmopolitan Magazine's website COSMOPOLITAN.com! Cosmo has always been the go to place for reads on all things feminine, flirty, sexy and glamorous. So to see my work on their site was a pretty huge honor! I also have to give big props to my client Stacey who gave a little insight on the experience of being shot by me and allowed one of her pictures to be used so publicly! The feature is of a beautiful Frida Kahlo shoot I helped conceptualize along with Nicole of Hint Of Chic, and of course I photographed it too! As you may or may not know I am currently in Maui for a little work and a lot of play! I've been here for 11 days now and still have 5 more to go! While I was here, my very close friend Anna Kim (you may remember her from this shoot) had a fabulous birthday fete at the magical wedding venue Haiku Mill. Anna was very kind in asking me to photograph her party so she could remember it... and as you may imagine, it is always flattering when another talented peer who you really admire asks you to photograph something for them! So of course I was very happy and honored to oblige!Today Pacific Weddings Magazine featured the affair on their blog... which showcases my photos alongside some of the photos Anna took at the party too! I always love to look back on the year, and see where my pretty photos got published! 2012 was a pretty exciting year for publications because we had our first real wedding magazine feature! A huge goal accomplished! There were many other great features in both print and online as well! I am so proud! Let's take a look back...We started 2012 off with a bang-- with a 3 page real wedding spread in Ceremony Magazine! A dream come true!
Then right on the heels of that feature... Seacoast Weddings Magazine published one of my photos on a full page! Such a pretty layout!

Ever Ours featured Rachel + Sean's camping themed engagement!
Samantha + Brook's Santa Barbara Historical Museum Wedding was featured on Style Me Pretty!
We were so excited to have an image featured in the premier digital issue of Grace Ormonde Wedding Style!!

We ended the year with another gorgeous Style Me Pretty feature... this time it was Kendra + Kevin's wedding that got the spotlight!

Every once in awhile it hits me that not only do I have a job that allows me to be my own boss, be creative, and take photographs for a living, but I also have a job that is meaningful. That creates a good in the world. Today is one such day where I realize the power of what I do beyond the joy my work brings to my own life. While a feature on Style Me Pretty is always exciting and wonderful, today's feature is extra special. Because it is putting the spotlight on amazing couple who's love is braver and stronger than cancer. Their inspirational story and their elopement photos (taken by your truly) are featured today...and they just called to tell me how happy the feature made them, and how donations are already pouring in for them. Wow. I am humbled, inspired and uplifted. So grateful and honored to be a part of this big day and to think that my photos have helped raise awareness (about their story, this specific type of cancer, and for their site) in some small way! Wow, wow wow. From the wee earlllly days of my wedding photography business I longed to be recognized by Junebug Weddings and listed among their directory of World's Best Wedding Photographers. I admire their site. They really do showcase THE BEST photographers and images. With them it's not just about pretty details, but actual high quality photographs-- technically sound and artistic. And I never really thought it would happen that they'd ever have me on their site. You see, Junebug limits how many photographers can be on their list in each major city and LA (where I used to live)?! Well I knew that was waitlisted. The application process to be a member is rigorous. I never bothered applying because I just was so sure I'd be rejected... I folded up that dream and put it in the way back of the linen closet in my brain. To collect dust and to only be looked on rare occasions.So you can imagine that when I received an email last week from Junebug INVITING me to be on their list of Top Photographers in Santa Barbara/Best Wedding Photographers in the World, I nearly fell out of my chair. I seriously re-read the email about three or four times.Hrmmm it does say "Dear Ashleigh" ... Hrm it was just sent to my email... I think that's my email address... yeah it is...OMG THIS IS REAL?!Yep, I was in shock. Giddy shock. That shock where a little dream you tucked away because you didn't fully believe in it actually comes true. It's the best kind of shock to feel-- euphoria. So today my little listing went live on the Junebug site, and I am so humbled, proud and honored. Dreams do come true friends... even if it's just a quiet vision you hold for yourself while you do a lot of groundwork... it's possible no matter how crazy it seems!Go check out my listing as one of Santa Barbara's Top Wedding Photographers and let me know what you think!

Well... I guess things are coming full circle for me! In 2008, I was a bride-to-be, unhappy at my admin job in the entertainment industry, and sneaking all the time I could while at work perusing TheKnot.com and planning my wedding. It was then that I had the first thought that I might like to be a wedding photographer. By November I had my first digital camera and I even shot my first engagement and bridal sessions for a few brave fellow knotties that I had become real life friends with. Looking back on it, it's kind of NUTS and I'm not sure that in those first few months I approached things the right way at all. But still, I love where I am and if it hadn't been for TheKnot.com I may have never thought to pursue this path.And now, exactly four years later, TheKnot.com is featuring MY photos! What? Like, my photos will be inspiring a whole new generation of knotties?!?! Whoa! I literally longed to be good enough to have my work featured on their site four years ago, and here we are today with a real wedding feature! Yay! It's always so fun to see my work featured on wedding blogs. But honestly the BEST thing about a publication feature is the 15-minutes of wedding world fame it brings my brides! My brides work so hard to pull together inspired, adorable, unique weddings and photo shoots. And getting their photos published is the ultimate validation that their creativity ROCKS! And they get to feel like a wedding rockstar for a day or so. And ultimately, I really want the ENTIRE experience of working with me to be "rockstar-esque," if you will.So yay yay yay for Rachel + Sean!
